Write for us
We welcome considered pitches about city streets, buildings, public spaces, neighbourhood details and urban routines. Send proposals through the Contact page; a pitch is not a guarantee of publication.
What to pitch
Bring one focused question about how a city place works, feels or changes in use. Useful subjects might explain a design choice, compare two kinds of urban space, clarify a term or show readers what to notice in a familiar setting. Keep the proposed angle distinct and suitable for a general reader.
What makes a strong proposal
Tell us the working title, the central idea, why it matters to readers and the main points the piece would cover. Say what material or examples you expect to rely on, and flag any local or specialist context the piece needs. Avoid broad topics, unsupported claims and pitches that depend on access or reporting you do not have.
Sending a pitch
Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include your name, a way to reply and the proposal in the message field. Please send a pitch rather than a complete unsolicited article; do not include confidential or sensitive personal information.
Small details shape the whole city
A doorway, a bench or a familiar route can change how a place feels. We look closely at these details and the choices behind them.
